Asian Arowana Endangered Anymore?

Asian Arowana Endangered Anymore?Asian Arowana in recent year mass breed till you can find Arowana in most LFS and the price drop tremendously。 If the price drop so much it is also mean that Asian Arowana is no longer ";rare"; compare to long time ago。
Will it come a state that Asian Arowana no longer need to be tagged? Will it soon become non-endanger species? Hope it dont happen。。。

Will it come a state that Asian Arowana no longer need to be tagged? Will it soon become non-endanger species? Hope it dont happen。。。 It is actually a good thing if arowanas are no more endangered。 Look at how many species of animals that are lost forever due to insufficient care and concern。 At least we know that arowanas future is secured and here to stay for a long time so that we and our future generations to enjoy。
>They r still endanger in the wild , CITES is base on the amount of aro that left in the wild not from captive-bred******
>thanks all bro for the replied。。
I understand in the wild is still endangered。。。if all captive breed wild add together (Spore, Malaysia Indonesia) I believe the quantity is very huge。。。。
>IN the wild, they are probably fished for food as well as illegal trade
or maybe not illegal of the country has no rule gainst it
in vietnam, i went to an aro shop, none of the aro have certs, all wild caught i presume。
looks nice too!

looks nice too! If the aro is green , then no certificate, if red or gold, might also stolen fish from farm。 Normally cheaper than market。

>Originally Posted by thesim Vietnam river also can find arowana? Nice if anyone from Vietnam can share picture with us。。 I thought GREEN AROWANA is widely populated around Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia? I had green aro before, which I had to sell it when I moved。 The buyer was Vietnamese, and he was looking for green aro to remind his homeland。
>Even if aro mass bred in farm, I suppose in the wild, they are mainly being hunt as food for the local tribes。
Even if being collected for farm, I believe it is to enlarge their genetics pool of brooders。
Certainly hope that there wont be a time again where aro need not be tag and certified as current system is so far so good in protection of consumers buying the ";correct"; species of aro they wanted。
Moreover who would wanted a wild aro whereby domesticated aro has better body shape and quality through selective breeding, unless its a rojak breeding brood。
